New Feature! Saved Sections in Squarespace
Squarespace has just rolled out an amazing new feature: saved sections. It is my favorite feature release of the year. ❤️
In the past, if you were working on a Squarespace website and there was a particular section that you wanted to reuse on another page, you would have to duplicate your entire page, delete all the other sections, and then add in the sections you want around the section that you loved. Or rebuild the section from scratch. The worst offenders were perfectly styled Auto Layout List Sections - the settings there are myriad and take forever to recreate. But now…
In Squarespace, you can save sections to reuse on other pages of your website.
When you edit any page section in Squarespace 7.1, you'll now see a heart icon that allows you to save the section. This works for all kinds of sections: fluid engine, classic editor, and auto layout list / gallery!
You’ll click the heart icon to save your section.
Then, when you are ready to add a new section and click Add Section on any page, you’ll see My saved sections with all the sections you’ve saved on your website to reuse.
This is such a huge time saver! And it’s particularly useful for more complex sections - for example, a fluid engine section you’ve gotten just right on desktop AND mobile, or an auto layout list section with non-standard style settings.
A few common questions:
-
Yes, you can save up to 50 sections per website.
-
Nope. The Saved Section is a “snapshot” and changes to sections you’ve created using it don’t change any others.
-
All contributors on a website can see the Saved Sections. If you work with a team or clients, this makes life so much easier!
-
At the moment, no. When you duplicate a site the Saved Sections don’t carry over. I’ve requested this and if it’s a feature you’d like, please reach out to support.squarespace.com and let them know!
-
Sadly, no. This would be an amazing feature, but no word on it yet.

Squarespace saved sections are being rolled out to all 7.1 users. If you don’t see it yet you’ll have access soon! There are no plans to bring this to Squarespace 7.0.
