How to Change the Blog Thumbnail Image in Squarespace 7.1

As I’m writing this, Squarespace 7.1 has been in general release for just two months and already the way to access Blog Post Settings has changed. If you thought it was in one place and now can’t find it, you are not losing your mind. Here’s where it is today:

How to Change the Blog Thumbnail Image in Squarespace 7.1

UPDATED (AGAIN) APRIL 2021:

The cog icon is now gone, but we have two ways to access blog post settings (and the thumbnail).

1. While you are in edit mode on your blog post, click the title at the very top of your browser window: (note: this no longer works as of August 2021. sigh.)

OR 2. When you are inside the Blog Collection with the list of posts to the left, you can roll over any post and click the three dots that appear. Click SETTINGS and this will take you to the Blog Post settings for that post so you can replace the thumbnail:

From there, you can click to the Options tab to change your blog post thumbnail image, set the URL slug, and write an excerpt. It’s also a good idea to click over to the SEO tab and write a title and description for search engines. Also, if you’d like to add tags and categories, you can do that at the bottom of the General tab.
