June ☀️

Remember how May was fun? The beginning of June was decidedly not. I won’t go into all the details here, but we had an unexpected loss in the family. On top of that, there were lots of little disappointments and I was out of the office for 10 days dealing with “life stuff.”

The second half of June was busy and VERY full of client work.

The end of June means we’re halfway through the year, so I always like to run some income reports and see if I’m on track. Happily, I’m exactly where I wanted to be this year. On course for the same amount of income as last year, but less time in the office. One of the main ways I do this is by leveraging my blog to showase my expertise and bring in more clients.

Income Streams

This month had three income streams: 1:1 work, course and template sales, and affiliate income.

1:1 Work

I worked on a new site for a nonprofit. They were looking for a way to organize a directory, programs, and articles in a way that would be easy for them to add to and edit. We talked through the pros and cons of Squarespace and decided that it would be the right platform for them to get started. We used blog functionality for each of those pages paired with the Universal Filter from Squarewebsites.

I also did 6 Squarespace Help calls and 3 Designer for a Days®.

Course & Template Sales

I sold 4 Squarespace templates ( all SWAY) and had 2 enrollments in the Make Money with your Blog course this month.

Affiliate Income

Still holding steady around $1500 this month.

This month I’m highlighting some of my favorite Squarespace plugin creators:

1. Will Myers

Get better at building websites with Squarespace training, coding, and plugins that elevate your ability. Will has a treasure trove of videos with free tutorials and code snippets and a great INTRO to CSS course. Check out his new scrolling web mockup. I'll be adding that to some of my own pages soon!

2. Ghost Plugins

Ghost is the OG of free Squarespace code snippets with a growing library of free plugins, premium plugins, and installed-for-you templates for your Squarespace projects.

3. SQS Mods

Roland at SQS Mods offers plugins to supercharge your Squarespace website. I'm loving his Social Icons - Everywhere plugin!

This Month’s Income Percentages

1:1 work made up just over 3/4 of my income this month, but overall this was a good income month. I did a lot of 1:1 work, so I’m happy that passive income was still over 20% of my total income.

Expenses

This month I spent money on:

  • domain renewals and website hosting ($235)

  • software: Zoom, Dropbox ($145)

  • plugins: Universal Filter ($70)

  • client gift ($25)

  • office supplies: cards & stickers for a new venture ($48)

  • professional fees: an hour of business strategy & a membership webinar ($262)

Personal win? I did not buy any more courses this month! The membership webinar was important because it helped me realize offering a membership is not the best path for me right now. And that hour of business strategy? Totally worth it.

Content Creation

Blog

I had 3 posts this month! Not bad!

Email Newsletter

My monthly email went out to subscribers in mid June. If you missed it, you can read it here.

Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn

I use MissingLettr to schedule my blog posts to automatically share on each of these platforms on a set schedule. Save 50% off the first three months with any new plan.

Tools & Tech

Here are the tools and tech I relied on this month:

The Numbers (compared to May)

Website Visitors: ~12,200 (no change). Holding steady. I’ll take it.

Email List Subscribers: 1,932 (+45). Most new subscribers sign up for my lead magnet.

Instagram Followers: 1,388 (+5). I have no reels, not expecting much growth. Decided to pin some posts at the top of my feed.

YouTube Subscribers: 797 (+33). I posted a new video to go along with the blog post on styling lightbox forms.

The Wrap-Up

June was a rough month personally. It was nice to keep busy with work the second half of the month. I didn’t get around to recording those new course lessons, because life, but that’s still on the list. I’ll need to record some new lessons for my templates as well.
